֎ 02/12/2024: STATE-LEVEL BLIND FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT CAPTIVATES KUTCH
Under
the joint patronage of Shri Navchetan Andhjan Mandal Madhapar and Kutchmitra
Daily, with the invaluable financial support of Friends of Kera UK and State
Bank of India Bhuj Branch, the third All Gujarat Visually Impaired Football
Competition kicked off at M.S.V. High School, Madhapar. This landmark event saw
ten teams—seven men's and three women's—from across Gujarat, including Kutch,
Ahmedabad, Anand, Bhavnagar, Jamnagar, Surat, and Valsad, compete in a
remarkable display of skill and resilience.
The
competition, designed to level the playing field for completely blind athletes,
featured blindfolds and a 20x40 meter field equipped with rattles. The
tournament, divided into three categories, culminated in thrilling semi-final
and final matches. Champions and runners-up were honored with trophies and cash
prizes, courtesy of State Bank of India Bhuj Branch and Shri Harji Kuvarji
Lachhani.
The event commenced with a spirited march past, followed by inspiring speeches from dignitaries like Devjibhai Dabasiya, Mr. Dholakia Saheb, Mr. Kamleshbhai Dave, and others, who lauded the participants and the organization's efforts. Secretary Mr. Himanshurbhai Sompura outlined the event's objectives and acknowledged the contributions of all supporters, including M.S.V. High School, State Bank of India, and Friends of Kera UK. The competition was guided by Shri Vinod Kanji Gada, Shri Hiralal Chawla, and Shri Laljibhai Prajapati. The successful event was further graced by the presence of Shri Zinabhai Dabasiya, Shri Damjibhai Oza, Smt. Zarnaben Vyas, and other esteemed guests. The program was expertly conducted by Coordinator Ms. Rimaben Bhatia.
