05/12/2025 TO 07/12/2025: THREE-DAY ADVOCACY SEMINAR ON RIGHTS OF PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES


            A three-day Advocacy Seminar on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities was organized by the All India Confederation of the Blind (AICB) and Shri Navchetan Andhjan Mandal, Madhapar, with financial support from the Danish Association of the Blind (DAB). 15 Representatives from three organizations in Gujarat - Shri Navchetan Andhjan Mandal, Madhapar, Blind Welfare Council, and All Gujarat Blind Teachers Association - participated in the seminar.

            The main objective was to enhance knowledge and skills related to rights, empowerment, and development of persons with disabilities, with a focus on legal awareness and practical advocacy skills. A total of 28 trainees registered and participated actively, including 15 representatives from the three organizations.

            Sessions covered key topics such as the RPWD Act - 2016, Women empowerment and equal opportunity, UNCRPD, the role of technology in development, and the importance of sports for persons with disabilities. Presentations were delivered by Himanshubhai Sompura, Manjulaben Rath, Kinnariben Desai, and Dhavalbhai Chauhan.

            The seminar successfully strengthened participants’ understanding and confidence to work for the rights and inclusion of persons with disabilities.
