           Shri Navchetan Andhjan Mandal - Madhapar, with the support of Friends of Kera UK, has been working for the overall development of persons with disabilities for the past 20 years through initiatives such as the Divyang Sports Festival, charity and awareness walks, and children’s fairs.

            As part of the Golden Jubilee celebrations, the Divyang Sports Festival was organized on 21/12/2025 at Kapil Kot Ground, Kera, by Shri Navchetan Andhjan Mandal - Madhapar with financial support from Friends of Kera UK. From 20 disability organizations in the district, 672 children participated. Additionally, 600 children from 60 clusters of special teachers under IEDSS and IED of Samagra Shiksha joined the event. In total, 1272 Divyang players were pre-registered, with around 110 additional on-the-spot registrations.

            The opening ceremony commenced at 10:30 a.m. in the presence of Vice President Shri Hiralal Chawla, General Secretary Shri Laljibhai Prajapati, Kishorbhai Nardani, Dineshbhai Bhuva, Manjibhai Gami, Prakashbhai Naradani, Veljibhai Vekariya, Ashishbhai Halai, Arvindbhai Halai, Members of the Naradani family from Friends of Kera UK, Shri Laljibhai Varsani from Care Education UK, Secretary of NAB Gujarat State Branch Shri Tarakbhai Luhar, District Primary Education Officer Shri Pruthvirajsinh Zala, Social Defence Officer Shri Nareshbhai Chauhan, District IED Coordinator Shri Vishnubhai Prajapati, BRC Coordinator Shri Bharatbhai, CRC Coordinator Shri Rameshbhai, Secretary Shri Himanshubhai Sompura, Vanrajsinh Jadeja, Treasurer Shri Zinabhai Dabasiya, and other invited guests.

            Around 1,500 Divyang children, parents, and volunteers participated in the march past, raising slogans such as “Khelenge… Jeetenge…”, “Bharat Mata Ki Jay”, and “Vande Mataram.” The guests received the torch from international Divyang players Jayashri Ahir and Nirav Dake and formally inaugurated the programme. Divyang children of Shri Navchetan Andhjan Mandal presented a prayer, and girls from Divyang Kanyakunj offered a welcome song.

            Social Defence Officer Shri Nareshbhai Chauhan praised the organization’s work for Divyang persons. Secretary Shri Himanshubhai Sompura appreciated the contribution of disability organizations and IEDSS and IED teachers and appealed for financial support to develop better sports facilities.

            A total of 72 games were conducted, including 100-meter race, long jump, shot put, and discus throw. Special events such as ball throw and bead filling were arranged for players with cerebral palsy and multiple disabilities. An exhibition of artworks by Divyang students and stalls related to marriage assistance and social security schemes were also organized.

            Every participating player received encouragement prizes, and travel expenses were reimbursed. The entire cost of the programme was supported by Friends of Kera UK, who raise funds through adventure activities such as sky diving and mountain climbing. The programme concluded with prize distribution, dance, and Garba, marking a joyful end.

            Special efforts by President Shri Vinod Kanji Gada, Vice President Shri Hiralal R. Chawla, General Secretary Shri Laljibhai Prajapati, Secretary Shri Himanshubhai Sompura, Treasurer Shri Zinabhai Dabasiya, Trustees, Chief Coordinator Shri Dipakprasad, coordinators, staff members, and trainees from M.D. College ensured the grand success of Divyang Sports Festival - 2025.
